In Memory of Michelle Molyneaux

It is with great sadness that today we say goodbye to our much-loved colleague, Michelle Molyneaux, who recently passed away following a brave battle with cancer.

Michelle was Director of Accounts, Head of the Credit Control department and member of our national Property Management Accounts Executive Board. She joined the firm 22 years ago as our first credit controller and built the team to over 30 today. Many of the senior managers in the team developed their careers under Michelle’s guidance, testament to her passion for training younger talent. She was also one of the senior leaders in our Glasgow office, contributing significantly to its growth from just 10 when she joined, to over 70 people today.

But for those who knew and worked with her, she was much more than just a senior manager or colleague. Her infectious personality and positive attitude were an inspiration to everyone. Hilariously funny and straight-talking (and not averse to the odd expletive!), Michelle was a loving and caring individual who would do anything for you.

Outside of work, she had a love of travel, whether long-distance adventures to Asia, or closer to home enjoying the sunshine in Spain with friends and family. Despite the attractions of overseas destinations however, Loch Lomond had a special place in her heart.

When asked who her favourite dinner party guests would be, she nominated Dawn French, Dolly Parton and Joey Ramone – which gives an insight into the colour, personality and sense of fun she brought to the firm.

Jim Hallan, a friend and colleague in our Glasgow office, reflected:

“Michelle was a significant part of my life at Workman. We worked very closely over my 20 years with the firm, supporting each other’s development and progression. However, it was Michelle’s friendship that I valued most and along with our colleagues, we will miss her greatly.”

Many of her colleagues will be paying their respects and saying goodbye to Michelle today (26th June). Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family and friends.

Michelle requested that in the event you would like to make a donation in her memory, please do so to Donate | Beatson Cancer Charity, who were kind enough to look after her, in her final months.

Last year, Michelle kindly contributed to this Journey to Director interview where you can read more about her career at Workman.
