Workman is now more than 100 days into delivering property management services for Shaftesbury Capital’s central London portfolio, with the instruction underway since 1st June.
Selected following a tender process, Workman is delivering property management services across Shaftesbury Capital’s 2.8 million sq. ft of mixed-use space spanning three distinctive destinations – Covent Garden, Carnaby Street & Soho, and Chinatown – which together include around 1,900 commercial and residential units across 640+ buildings. Services include rent collection, tenancy and data management, and occupier experience.
As the UK’s largest independent commercial property management and building consultancy firm, Workman brings over 40 years of focused experience in delivering high-quality property management and operational finance services, with a long-standing presence in central London and particular experience of managing mixed-use estates comprising retail, hospitality, office space, and residential components. A dedicated on-site team has been established in Covent Garden, fully focused on supporting the Shaftesbury Capital portfolio and its customers, an approach that ensures continuity of service and the ability to respond efficiently across the estate.
The on-site team, including Partners James Ballantyne, Kirsty McKenna, and Becca Godshaw, is led overall by Gareth Soar; building on a client relationship that already spans more than 15 years through Workman’s Building Consultancy work.
As a RICS-regulated firm, Workman is committed to operating professionally and transparently, with particular focus on service charge management, financial controls, governance, and the safe and effective operation of properties. Working in partnership with Shaftesbury Capital and the wider operational teams, the firm aims to deliver a consistent, joined-up service across the portfolio, supported by a range of in-house specialist services that underpin best practice, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
“We are confident that the appointment of Workman will deliver enhanced value to customers through stronger operational expertise, endeavouring to achieve greater efficiencies, while supporting our customers’ success, a principle at the heart of Shaftesbury Capital’s approach. Workman’s people share our ambition, have breadth of experience and depth of resource, and are committed to working closely with our customers and other stakeholders.”
Chris Breslin Head of Property Management at Shaftesbury Capital
“Shaftesbury Capital’s West End estate is one of the most recognisable and well-loved portfolios in the country, and this is a significant appointment for Workman. We’ve had a strong relationship with Shaftesbury Capital through our Building Consultancy team for many years, and this instruction reflects the trust they’ve placed in us to deliver across their property management operation too. We have a brilliant team on the ground in Covent Garden, and are fully focused on delivering the kind of consistent, relationship-led service that makes a genuine difference to occupiers and to asset value.”
