As reported by Western Whistle, Workman has relocated its Swindon office to 3 Newbridge Square, moving to a single open-plan floor on the seventh level of a building that sits at the heart of the town’s ongoing regeneration area.
The move keeps the team centrally located – an important factor for a group that values the town centre’s transport links, parking, and local amenities. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views across Swindon and the surrounding countryside, while the building forms part of an area the landlord is actively developing into a destination zone
Maintaining 97 desks with room to expand, the new space represents a significant change from the previous two-floor split. A single open-plan layout now brings the whole team together, supported by larger breakout and meeting rooms, four meeting booths, quiet pods, and a dedicated area for collaborative working – all reflecting what our people said they needed.
That feedback came directly from a survey conducted in February 2025, which drew responses from 129 employees and covered commute patterns, travel preferences, and priorities for the new space. Improved end-of-trip facilities, better cycle storage, more collaborative working spaces, and dedicated informal meeting areas topped the list. The town centre was the preferred location by some margin. Following the survey, the landlord installed end-of-trip facilities to support active commuting – a practical outcome from a co-operative process that was taken seriously from the outset.

Across the project, Workman’s Property Management, Building Consultancy, and Client Accounting teams have all been involved.
Partner Mark Smith led the fit-out, with Stephen Hamlin, Senior Associate, managing the project and Joe Power, Building Surveyor, supporting the project. Holly Arthur and Sarah Tregear, both Senior Associates, have been closely involved with design and aesthetics, ensuring the space sits consistently alongside other Workman offices across the firm. An internal competition invited submissions of photos of local landmarks, parks, and Swindon scenes – the images with the most votes have been printed and framed for the new office.

A collaborative process from day one, the team reviewed locally available spaces alongside the survey findings, viewed shortlisted properties together, and reached a decision based on space, amenities, and how well each option met the firm’s needs.
Sustainability has shaped the approach throughout: 79 desks from the existing office have been relocated to the new space, along with meeting room tables and breakout furniture. Outdated branded headed paper has been donated to a local Scouts group for arts and crafts, and perishable goods have gone to a local homeless shelter.
In July, the team got together to properly mark the move – an evening to enjoy the new space and celebrate what’s been achieved. A new address, but the same Swindon team – better connected, better equipped, and ready for all that comes next.
