Glasgow’s primary shopping centre, Silverburn, marked its 15th birthday. The celebration featured the city’s top talent. It also included various giveaways from occupier brands and family-friendly activities.
Adding to the jubilant atmosphere, Silverburn’s 15th birthday was a special highlight. Adding to the jubilant atmosphere, Silverburn’s 15th birthday was a special highlight. The 1,500,000-square-foot shopping centre has been under Workman management since late 2021, but General Manager David Pierotti has been with the centre for each of its 15 years.
And a lot has happened in Silverburn’s first 15 years: the centre has played host to a birth, a proposal, and even a reported ghost-sighting.
In 2007 there was a ‘Royal Opening’ with Princess Anne, and a few years later in 2015 the centre completed a £20m leisure extension, which provided its impressive Winter Garden F&B offering.
Anchored by Tesco, Next and Marks & Spencer, Silverburn has welcomed new brands including Heavenly Desserts, TAG, and Doner Shack during the past year.
Building Community is at the heart of Silverburn, which is committed to supporting local stakeholders:
- 85% of people who work in the centre are from the local area.
- More than £2m has been invested in skills training.
- During lockdown, the centre’s Giving Back programme saw £20,000 donated between 10 deserving local charities.
