Workman was proud to be awarded ESG Agency of the Year at Property Week’s ESG Edge Awards, held on 12 November.
The award judges said:
“Workman is strong on all areas, particularly engagement and thought leadership. Workman has a wider impact on the market and the ability to influence across multiple significant portfolios.”
Our Vicky Cotton, ESG Director, said:
“This is testament to the expertise, passion, and plain hard work of our ESG team, which feeds into all areas of the Workman LLP business – like a green thread running through everything we do. It proves that ESG is the stuff of life, and should never sit as a vertical. It needs to be horizontal across the whole business to really gain impact.”
So how did we achieve this accolade? Here’s a snapshot:
Our ESG services have expanded, driven by client demand, and served by our ever-growing team of ESG specialists, led by Vicky Cotton, ESG Director, and Hedley Jones, Partner and Head of ESG Refurbishment and Development.
We’ve helped clients achieve demonstrable results through energy efficiency, social impact, and clear reporting in line with industry standards. For example, Workman’s ESG experts have created Net Zero Asset Plans (NZAPs) or Sustainability Asset Plans across more than 7 million sq. ft of commercial real estate.
Projects with a combined value of £786m have benefitted from our ESG Project Advisor service, which interrogates the project brief, challenging project teams to think beyond statutory compliance, including scenario modelling to feed into viability.
Our Intelligent Building Operating System (IBOS) – now installed across more than 9.2 million sq. ft of commercial property – has saved £6.5m on clients’ energy bills to date, cutting 31,200,000 kWh of energy and preventing 3,400 tonnes of CO2e from entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
Workman’s ESG experts regularly guide clients through the benefits and pitfalls of the most-commonly used ESG certifications, such as BREEAM or Fitwel, as well as co-ordinating and driving performance of GRESB benchmark rating for 35 funds.
What’s more, we are delivering the next-generation ESG agenda for our clients. The firm has recently developed a bespoke Workman ESG training module to support Workman employees undertaking the APC, and to ensure all 800+ Workman employees have a grasp of the current ESG picture.
In short, ESG is a green thread running through everything our property managers, building consultants, placemaking specialists, project managers and building technology specialists do. It stitches us together with a common cause – the advancement of environmentally and socially responsible principles for the good of our clients’ portfolios, in turn benefitting their occupiers.
