A team of Workman professionals and clients went for a spin around the Surrey Hills in the rare June sunshine last week, cycling a distance of 50km.

The day started at Denbies with coffee and bacon sandwiches, to fuel up before the cycling challenge began.

The event was designed for both keen cyclists and relative novices alike, and the riders were lucky to get a sunny day.

After the first 20km there was a break, where the peloton split, with the keener riders and those more in favour of a conversational pace finding their group. The faster group stopped for a coffee and cake refuel while the other group pressed on and were back at Denbies just before the stoppers. There was then the option (for those that wanted), to ride up Box Hill, and for those who didn’t to have a drink and a chat – then lunch was served for all once the Box Hill group were back.

While most headed off after lunch, there was one very keen pair who went to do hill repeats up and down Box Hill…
